[0:00] Well good evening and a warm welcome to this service this evening. It's good to see so many and I extend a welcome to people from different areas and different congregations. It's good to join together in worship this evening. The intimations I went over in the morning and on this sheet that you probably received as you were coming in. If not you can take it on the way out. But one or two things I'd like to highlight. One is that after the service this evening there will be a fellowship. So there will be tea and coffee and refreshments immediately after and then there will be a time where we'll sing and we'll pray and we'll look forward to hearing how the Lord has worked both in the life of the Reverend James McKeever and the Reverend Jomarjo Jodo Davidson. So they'll be sharing a word of testimony both of them in the fellowship after the service. So please if you're able to stay, do stay. It would be good to see as many as possible at that. Also at the end of the service tonight there's a retiring offering. You'll see there's plates at the door where there's opportunity to give if you're so moved. And the retiring offering this evening will go towards the work of the
[1:21] Dofus Trust in Malawi. Nurse Marion has been out there on a number of occasions and there are various projects that she's involved with and they're ongoing. So the money that's collected it won't actually go towards travelling expenses at all, Marion was clarifying. It will go directly to the work that she's involved with. Other things as normally in the course of the week and you can take note of these as appropriate to each one. Two more things. One, I'd like to just say thank you on behalf of ourselves at the Manche and the congregation for all those who've prepared the food that we'll enjoy this evening and all those who've been so generous in giving donations of food to us over the last few days that we've been using over the communion season. It's very much appreciated and we thank you for that. And finally, on your behalf, I'm conscious this is the last evening that we'll have Jodo with us, although we'll have James with us tomorrow morning for the Gallic service and that will be at half past eleven here in the community centre. But with both ministers present here this evening on your behalf, I'd like to thank both Jodo and James for their ministry over the course of this weekend. And also the Reverend Roddy who's not with us, but we very much appreciated the message that he shared with us on Thursday morning. We thank the Lord for you and we will pray on for you as you in worship both this evening and tomorrow. So again, thank you and I will, with great pleasure, hand over now to Jodo.
[3:07] Well, I would just like to thank you all for your warm hospitality and your love and it's been a real privilege and it's been a real honour being here sharing in the Gospel with you. It's been a great time and the Spirit of the Lord has been with us and we praise God for that. We are here to worship God. We are here to worship the God who gave his only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, for us so that we can be here sharing in fellowship here today.
[3:36] Now we're going to begin our worship by singing to God's praise and to God's glory, Psalm 22 in Gaelic. Psalm 22 in Gaelic.

[14:16] We are going to continue our worship now. We are going to sing Mission Praise number 458. Mission Praise 458. Man of sorrows, what a name for the Son of God who came.
[14:29] Rue of sinners to proclaim. Hallelujah, what a saviour. And verse 5. When he comes, our glorious King, all is ransomed home to bring. Then anew the song will sing.
[14:42] Hallelujah, what a saviour. Man of sorrows, 458, God's praise. Amen. I invite you now to open your Bibles, please, if you have them with you, to Matthew's Gospel.
[15:06] Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 26. Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 26.
[15:23] And we'll begin at verse 36. Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 26.
[15:37] And this is the Word of God. Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane.
[15:50] And he said to his disciples, sit here while I go over there and pray. And taking with them Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
[16:04] Then he said to them, my soul is very sorrowful even to death. Remain here and watch with me. And going a little further, he fell on his face and prayed, saying, my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.
[16:20] Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, so could you not watch with me one hour?
[16:32] Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, my father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.
[16:50] And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. So leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again.
[17:01] Then he came to the disciples and said to them, sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
[17:14] Rise, let us be going. See, my betrayer is at hand. While in the school speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
[17:28] Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, the one I will kiss is the man. Seize him. And he came up to Jesus at once and said, greetings, Rabbi. And he kissed him.
[17:40] Jesus said to him, friend, do what you came to do. Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized him. And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant of the high beast and cut off his ear.
[17:56] Then Jesus said to him, put your sword back in its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot appeal to my father and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?
[18:11] But how then should the scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so? At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to capture me?
[18:24] Day after day I sat in the temple teaching and you did not seize me. But all this has taken place that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.
[18:35] Then all the disciples left him and they fled. Amen. And may the Lord bless that reading of his own holy and inerrant word.
[18:49] We'll continue to sing God's praise, this time from Psalm 8. Psalm 8. We'll sing the whole psalm. It's a relatively short psalm.
[19:00] Psalm 8. How excellent in all the earth, Lord, our Lord is thy name. Who has thy glory far advanced above the starry free. And then the end, verses 8 and 9.
[19:12] Pounds of the air, fish of the sea, all that pass through the sea. How excellent in all the earth, Lord, our Lord is thy name. Psalm 8.
[19:23] To God's praise and glory. Amen. A wake, sermon, in all the earth, Lord, our Lord is thy name.
[19:42] Who has thy glory far advanced above the starry free.
[19:53] From heaven's hand, from heaven's hand, thou didst strength ordain.
[20:06] For thy force caused that so thou might, the avenging for each thing.
[20:18] When I look up unto the heavens, which thy own fingers stray.
[20:30] Unto the moon and to the stars, which whereby be your name.
[20:42] Then say I want his man that he remembered his body.
[20:54] For what the son of man that thou so kind to him should be.
[21:07] For thou art thou art, the angel, O Lord, our hearts, in thine the angels made.
[21:19] With glory and with dignity, thou crowned as his head.
[21:31] O thy voice, O thy heart, thou art thou art, O thy handsworth thou art, O lander speak, this way.
[21:42] O ship and oxen, yea, and peace, that in the field to stray.
[21:54] O top the air rich of the sea All that pass through the same How excellent in all the air Lord our Lord is thy name But before we have a look at God's word We unite our hearts in prayer Let us all pray Eternal and ever blessed God Once again we praise in our hour We pause in our hour of worship As we come before your throne of grace Once again in prayer Lord you have invited us To come with our prayers And our praise and our worship
[22:56] And Lord we are here to worship you And to adore you And Lord we lift up our voices In singing and in prayer And Father we bless you And we thank you for all That you mean to us Lord we thank you That you have chalked out That avenue of salvation for us Through your glorious son The Lord Jesus Christ Gracious Lord your word tells us That since we have the confidence To enter the most holy place By the blood of Jesus And by a new and living way Opened up to us Through the curtain that is his body And since we have a great priest Over the house of God Let us draw near to God With sincere hearts And with a full assurance Lord With a heart sprinkled To cleanse us from a guilty conscience We thank you And we bless you Oh Lord for the gospel of Jesus We thank you Oh Lord that he left the realms Of eternity
[23:56] And came down here And took on flesh We thank you Oh Lord that as he Hung on the cross He cried out Father forgive them For they know not what they do Glorious God You know our weakness You know our fragility Lord you know we have been Utterly ruined by sin And we have fallen so far short But yet you have come down To touch us With your glorious son Jesus Father we thank you For the resurrection Which gives us hope Oh Lord And your word tells us Dear friends Now that we are Children of God What we shall be Has not yet been made known But we know That when Christ appears We shall be like him For we shall see him As he is Oh glorious God May each and every one of us In this building this evening Have that saving knowledge of you
[24:58] May your glorious Holy Spirit Be at work in our midst Oh God May we decrease And may the Lord Jesus Christ In peace Heavenly Father We thank you That you have placed that desire Within our hearts Here this evening To be in the house of prayer To be in the house of God To study your word And in the study of your word May we be led to you Father would you have mercy And compassion on us again This evening We thank you We thank you for all That we have enjoyed Over these last few days We thank you For your word Which was preached this morning And gave us that confidence And trust in you Once again We thank you For your table Oh Lord That visible representation Of the gospel To assure your people Of your love for them And Lord We've been assured Again this day Glorious God We thank you
[25:59] For that word Which is flawless Like silver Refined in a furnace of clay Purified seven times Oh God Would you bless us Again this evening Lord I pray That you would continue To bless this congregation And Lord I pray for David The pastor And Lord I pray for The Reverend James For Kiva And the Reverend Andrew Coggle And Lord We pray for all The churches In this district We pray oh Lord That you would Pour out your spirit Heavenly Father And you equip And help your people Lord we remember Our young people As well Our children And our grandchildren And even our Great grandchildren And Lord Would they know you At a young age And remember Their creator And their youth Lord we remember Those who are unwell Lord we just Pray that you would Bless them Where they are And Lord We know that many Of them will be Praying for us Even just now With your healing Hand to come upon them Lord we pray for the Residents up at

[28:00] Matthew 26 And at verse 36 Then Jesus went with them To a place called Gethsemane And he said to his disciples Sit here while I go over there And pray And taking with him Peter and the two sons Of Zebedee He began to be sorrowful And troubled Then he said to them My soul is very sorrowful Even to death Remain here And watch with me We're going to ask And God willing Answer from God's word Two questions tonight Who is this Jesus Of Nazareth That we see And we meet Going through The gates Of the garden Of Gethsemane Who is he?
[28:58] The second question We're going to ask is Why is this Jesus Sorrowful And troubled? Who is this Jesus That we meet In Gethsemane?
[29:17] Paul tells us In Colossians chapter 1 That he is the image Of the invisible God He also tells us In that letter In him The whole fullness Of deity Dwells bodily This is the word Of God Become flesh This is the one Who filled And continued To control The whole universe While he was still In the womb Of his mother This is the one Who had no earthly father But was conceived By the Holy Spirit Of God This is the one Who was with his father From all eternity This is the one Who appeared To the patriarchs In the Old Testament
[30:17] As an angel This is the one Who was in the fiery furnace With Shadrach Meshach And Abednego And what did they say?
[30:30] He looks as though He were a son Of the gods This is the one Who is described In the book of Daniel As the ancient Of days This is the one Of the which The prophets Would say For to us A child is born Mighty God Prince Of peace This is the one Of which the prophet Would say This is Emmanuel This is God With us This is Jesus Of Nazareth This is the Jesus We meet The Lord And Saviour Our Lord And Saviour This is the Jesus We meet In Gethsemane This is the
[31:31] God Man This is the one Who never ceased To be God For one Moment This is the one Who could read The minds And the hearts Of those Around him Yet this is the one Who could still Be amazed At the faith Of a Roman Centurion It's interesting Isn't it?
[32:01] This is the one Who could walk On water And feed Five thousand With five loaves And two fish Yet He would say To the woman Of Samaria What did he say?
[32:15] I thirst I thirst This is the one Who forecasted Future events Telling the disciples To collect A donkey And there it was In the very spot Where he said It would be As he headed To Jerusalem To the cross And yet he confesses He does not know The date of his return How so?
[32:39] This is Jesus Of Nazareth And it's because Of this glorious Jesus of Nazareth That we are here Tonight This is the one Of which we confess In our tradition He is perfect In Godhood And he is also Perfect In manhood He is truly God And truly man He is two natures The incarnate Christ He is one Glorious person With God's nature And for our sake A human nature So let's pause For a few moments As we Take all that in Let's back up here
[33:41] A wee bit And think about You know The Lord Jesus Confessing He did not know The date of his return He's going to return Yes we know He confesses He doesn't know Because In order for Jesus To save He had to become Like us In order for Jesus To save He had to Touch Hebrews 2 You know That verse 17 Says this He had to be made Like his brothers In every respect There was one difference There wasn't there He was without sin We have been Ruined By Sin For we do not Have a high priest Hebrews tells us
[34:42] That is Jesus We do not have A high priest Who is unable To sympathize With our weakness And we are weak Aren't we But we have one Who in every respect Has been tempted As we are Yet he was Without sin Yet he can Sympathize with you And he can Sympathize with me Peter would say He is Christ He is a lamb Without spot Or blemish He is Perfect John would say Luke The lamb Of God Who takes away The sin Of the world And Paul And Paul Would throw His arms Up in the air As he is Writing his letter To Timothy And he would say Great indeed Great indeed We confess This The mystery Of godliness
[35:43] Oh there is Much we do Not know There is Much we Do not know The greatest Revelation We have ever Seen from God Is his Glorious Son Jesus Whom we Meet here In the Winepress In the Garden Of Gethsemane And as we Enter into Gethsemane As we Enter through The gates Of Gethsemane We do so With reverence And we do so With awe Because we are Invited Through this Text Into the Emotional Life Of the Son Of God The Emotional
[36:43] Life Of the Son Of God We must Tread Carefully Mustn't We We must Tread Circumspictly And we Must tread Carefully Professor R.A.
[37:00] Finlayson A divine From the Free Church College From another Generation This is what He says About Gethsemane Listen very Carefully Very wise What he Says Gethsemane Is not a Field for Intellect It is a Sanctuary For Faith There was Transacted Something that Brings us Completely Out Of Our Depth Yet He says Yet Something That Has Such a Distinct Bearing On Our Redemption That We Dare Not Pass It By In other words He's saying Tread Carefully But We Must Not Pass It By You Know Because At Gethsemane We see The outworkings Of what The prophet Isaiah
[38:01] Said Hundreds Of years Before Prior To Christ Coming In the Flesh And Entering Into This World Isaiah 53 3 You Know The Words Well He Was Despised And Rejected He Was A Man Of Sorrows Acquainted With Grief And We See The Grief Here As He Contemplates Going To The Cross Of Calvary To Save A Sinful People You Know We Worship A Saviour Who Experienced Grief And Sorrow Like No Other This Is The One Who Earlier Upon Entering Into Jerusalem He Wept Over It He Cried Over It Just Like Jeremiah Centuries Before Weeping
[39:02] And Pleading And Finding Nothing But Hardness Of Heart And Unbelief You See Jesus Would Weep Over The Impending Destruction Of Jerusalem Who Is This Jesus This Is The Jesus Who Wept Over The Death Of His Friend Lazarus Do You Remember Go Go to John 11 And You See The Death Of Lazarus The Text Says He Was Deeply Moved He Was Indignant In His Spirit And He Was Greatly Troubled John 11 33 And It's Not So Much Yes He Was Sad The Lord Jesus And He Was Grieving At The Death Of His Friend Lazarus But There Was More To It Than That There Was More To It Than That Why Was He So Moved
[40:02] And Why Was He So Indignant He Loved Lazarus He Loved Mary He Loved Martha Because In The Death Of Lazarus The Lord Jesus Christ Saw Right Up Close The Utter Ugliness And The Destruction Of Sin And He Saw That Death Was Its Reward And It Troubled The Lord Jesus In Fact It Angered The Lord Jesus Because Jesus Would Be Sin And He Would Conquer Death For You And For Me If We Are In Christ Here This Evening He Purchased That Redemption
[41:03] For Us So That We Could Sit At The Lord's Table Here This Afternoon He Came To Conquer Sin And He Knew That The Wages Of Sin Is Death We Know That The Wages Of Sin Is Death And We Know That We Cannot Do Anything At All For Our Sin Nothing We Cannot Clean Ourselves Up And Jesus Our Lord Knew It You See The Jesus Whom We Meet In Get Seminy Is The Jesus Who Came To Deal With Sin And Death And He Would Meet It Head On The Sparkless Sinless Lamb Of God Face To Face With Sin And Death No Wonder It Repulsed Him No Wonder
[42:03] He Was Angered By It You See In The Garden Here Of Get Seem We See Laid Before Our Very Eyes Laid Before Our Very Eyes We See Jesus The Man We See His Humanity Laid Before Us As He Knows That His Hour Is Coming Where He Would Have To Drink That Cup Of Wrath His Hour Is Coming And He Knows That He Will Be Abandoned By The Father He Loves And The Father Who Loves Him Will Be Abandoned By Him And He Would Face Evil And Wickedness Head On Sin And Death And He Would Have To Do It On His Own The
[43:07] Disciples Would Flee My Friends If We Were There With Jesus In The Garden Of Gethsemane We Would Have Fled As Well Let's Not Kill Our Serm Wouldn't Be A Fled He Knows His Hour Is Coming And We See Here His Humanity And It Is Revealed To Us Here In This Text From A Point Of View That We See Nowhere Else In Scripture We See We Saw A Glimpse Of It As I Mentioned Earlier At Lazarus Tomb And Now The Lord Jesus He Will Lay Bear His Heart To His Father Like Never Before He Will Come Before His Father In Prayer As Dr.
[43:54] As Dr. Nathan Reminded Us Last Night He Would Sweat Blood Such Was The Anguish Of His Soul Human Human Is Human John Calvin Is Right Up There With Charles Spurgeon Being Quotable And This Is What He Says About Gethsemane And What We're Talking About Here This Evening He Says The Lord Jesus Was Reduced To Utter Extremity He Says He Says This Is Not A Phantom Of A Man We Meet In Gethsemane The Lord Jesus Is Struck With Fright And Seized With Anguish And We See His Humanity Laid Bare The Lord Jesus Christ Would Be Here And He Would Be Abandoned And He Would Be On His Own
[44:54] So That We Would Not Be Left On Our Own Because When We Put Our Faith And Our Trust In This Jesus We Meet In Gethsemane We Do Not Live The Christian Life On Our Own We Live As We Hared Yesterday Before The Face Of God In The Presence Of God Lord Jesus Christ Has Promised To Be To Be With His People Even Until The World Jesus Did Not Have That Luxury In Gethsemane By He Headed To The Cross This Is Not A Phantom Of A Man This Is The God Man The Sportless Lamb Of God Who Came To Take Away The Sin Of The World This Is The One Mediator Between God And Man The Man Christ Jesus
[45:55] Paul Would Say To Timothy In Chapter 2 Verse 5 Of 1st Timothy And In That Text Paul Did Not Say The God Man Christ Jesus Although That Would Have Been True He Said The Man Pilate Pilate Displayed Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Before The Crowd And He Said Behold The Man Never A True Word You See If The Lord Jesus Christ Had Not Come In The Flesh We Would Never Have Any Chance Of Being Saved On Friday Night We Looked At Mark Chapter 1 And The Leopard And He Embraced The Leopard And He Touched The Leopard And He Cured The Leopard And He He He He He Touched Him A Leopard Who Hadn't Been Touched For Years Touched Touched Him Carolyn
[46:59] Also Says About This Man Christ Jesus Christ Is Our Comrade And Partner In The Same Nature As Us Isn't That Amazing Same Nature As Us We Share A Fellowship Of Nature With Him He Says God's Only Son Put Himself On Equal Terence With Us Wishing To Be A Brother It It Was Said
[47:59] That The Hands Reach Of Every Man Not At Long Range Jesus Has Come He Has Come God In Christ Came Near And He Opened Himself Up To Us At Close Quarter Who is This Jesus We meet In Gethsemane It's The Same Jesus John Would Tell Us In His First Letter That Which Was From The Very Beginning Which We Have Heard And Which We Have Seen With Our Eyes Which We Have Looked Upon And We Have Touched With Our Hands Concerning The Word Of Life This Is The Jesus We Meet In Gethsemane This Is The Very Same Jesus Who Says To Me Come To Me All Who Labour And Are Heavy Laden And I Will Give You Rest Have
[48:59] You Taken Your Rest In Jesus Because Jesus Did Not Say I Might Give You Rest He Says I Will Give You Rest Do You See The Difference Do You See The Difference I Will Give You Rest Here He Is Heading To Drink That Cup Of Wrath That His Bride His People Would Not Have To Drink It So Why Is He So Sorrowful And Troubled Why Is He So Agitated Well Has He Not Been Predicting This Hour Says To His Disciples Remain And Watch You
[49:59] See He Desires The Companionship Of His Friends But His Disciples Can Do Nothing For Him What Can We Do For Him Nothing You See The More Close The Closer The Lord Jesus Christ Was Coming To Calvary And To The Cross The More Confused The Disciples Seemed To Get They Weren't Quite Understanding And Yet Here Is The Son Of God Come In The Flesh And He's Confiding In Them My Soul Is Very Sorrowful Even Unto Death Verse Verse Verse Verse 38 And Then Of Course He Would Confide In His Father Even More So You See The Passover Lambs Are Soon To Be Slaughtered They're Preparing The Passover Lambs While Jesus Is In His Winepress Off
[51:00] Gethsemane This Is The Night Of Vigil For Christ And For His Disciples You Go All The Way Back To The Book Of Exodus And Chapter 12 And Verse 42 And You Will Read This It Was A Night Of Watching By The Lord To Bring Them Out Of The Land Of Egypt So This Same Night Is A Night Of Watching Kept To The Lord By All The People Of Israel Throughout Their Generations The Night Of Vigil And Going Back In History God's People Are About To Be Freed Out Of The Bondage Of Egypt A Night Of Vigil And It's A Night Of Vigil For Jesus Here The Disciples Couldn't Do It We Couldn't Do It But The Lord Has Done It Is
[52:01] About To Face Death And Sin Head On And We've Already Commented That Evil And Wickedness Totally Repulsed Him He's Soon Going to Be Abandoned By And That That That Is Exactly What The Lord Jesus Would Do He Would Glorify His Father's Name By Hanging On A Cross For Sinners Father Save Me From This But For For This Purpose I Have Come See
[53:01] That In John 12 27 Go To John 13 21 And You'll Read This Jesus Was Troubled In His Spirit And Testified Truly Truly I Say To You One Of You Will Betray Me My Soul Is Very Sorrowful Even Unto Day He Fell On His Face And Prayed Verse 39 My Father If It Be Possible Let This Cup Pass From Me Nevertheless Nevertheless Not As I Will But As You Will Then In Verse 42 My Father If This Cup Cannot Pass Unless I Drink It Your Will Be Done This Is The Jesus He Was Still Controlling The Universe Perhaps Psalm 42
[54:02] Was In His Mind We Sang It Yesterday Didn't We But The Psalmist Says Why Are You Cast Out My Soul And Why Are You In Turmoil Within Me Hope In God For I Shall Yet Praise Him My Salvation And My God As The Psalmist Put His Trust In God So Would Jesus Put His Trust In His Father Now Let's Pause Let us Pause Here Let's Take a breather And let's Get a Sense of Balance We're In Gethsemane And we're Seeing Jesus Pouring Out His Heart And we Asked A Question Was This The Lord's Demeanor The Whole Time He Walked On This Earth No No You See Our Lord Did Not Come To Be
[55:02] Broken By Sin And Death He Came To Break It He Was The Conqueror Who Came With Gladness Of His Imminent Victory Hebrews Chapter 12 Verse 2 Says This Look To Jesus The Founder And Perfecter Of Our Faith Who For The Joy The Joy That Was Set Before Him Endured The Cross Despising The Shame And Is Seated At The Right Hand Of The Throne Of God You Catch The Joy Part Who For The Joy That Was Set Before Him Endured The Cross Because In The Heart Of Jesus There Was Joy That He Was Going To Save The People For His Heart That We Would Be Here Tonight
[56:02] Worshipping Him There Was A Joy That Sinners Would Be Saved He Takes Great Life In His People He Loves His People With An Everlasting Love And He Went To The Cross With That Joy In His Heart And Even Before The Son Of God And The Father And The Holy Spirit Came Together And They Created This Work They Knew That This Is What Was Going To Take Place They Knew That A People Would Be Saved Because Of The Cross Of Christ Who For The Joy Luke Tells Us That He Exalted
[57:03] In The Holy Spirit And He As He Contemplated The Ways Of God And Bringing Many Sons To Glory Luke 10 Verse 21 Says This He Rejoiced In The Holy Spirit He Was Filled With Joy In The Holy Spirit And Said I Thank You Father Lord Of Heaven And Earth That You Have Hidden These Things From The Wise And You Have Revealed Them To Little Children A Joy In His Heart At The Plan Of God To Save Sinners Here He Is Rejoicing In The Ways Of God We're Treading Into The Studying The Emotional Life Of Christ That Is What We're Doing Here In
[58:03] Worship And That We're Called To Do To Learn More About The One Who Loved Us And Gave Himself For Us To Learn About Him Benjamin Warfield Says This About The Emotional Life Of Jesus It Cannot Be Supposed That Jesus Prosecuted His Work On Earth He Says In A State Of Mental Depression No He Says He Came Into The World On A Mission Of Ministering Good News And Mercy For The Lost Giving His Life As A Ransom For Many Warfield Says And Warfield Also Says This And This Is Interesting And I'm Glad He Said It This Joy Underlay All His Suffering Even In Amongst All His Suffering It Was A Joy Underneath It All A Joy And A Love For His People A Joy That He Was Going To Save A People
[59:04] For Himself Warfield And I Carry On If Our Lord Was The Man Of Sorrows He Says He Was More Profoundly Still The Man Of Joy The Man Of Joy Do You Have Joy In Your Heart Here This Evening Of Jesus Do You Have A Love In Your Heart This Evening For Jesus Are You Seeing And Learning Something Over Here About Jesus This Is The Jesus We Meet In Get Salmon But Yet The Prospect Of His Suffering Was A Perpetual Get Salmon He Must Bow His Head Beneath This Straw And He Would Do It For You And He Would Do It For Me And
[60:05] I'm Going To Quote Warfield Again And I Want You To Listen Carefully To What He Says In The Presence Of This Mental Anguish The Physical Torture Of The Crucifixion They Retire Into The Background And We May Well Believe That Our Lord Though He Died On The Cross Yet Died Not Off The Cross But As We Commonly Say He Died Of A Broken Heart That Is To Say The Strain Of His Mental Sufferings All For The Joy That Was Set Before Him And Now Where Is The Lord Jesus He Is Seated At The Right Hand Of God And Giving All The Benefits Of The Gospel To Us Even Here This Evening He Died Because Of The Sin Of All Of God's People In Every Place And In Every Era Of This World's
[61:05] History Because On His Shoulders Was Charged Your Sin And My Sin Paul Tells The Corinthians You Were Bought With A Price Have You Seen Something Of The Price Here In Get Seminy What A Price The Price Is The Blood Of The Son Of God You Were Bought With That Price What a Saviour In Worship What a Saviour Here He Is All Alone And We Are The Price Of God And We Have Each Other And We Live The Christian Lives Together And Jesus Did It For Us All Long
