The Bible is the word of God, which is sufficient to meet all of our needs in all circumstances.

in Isaiah 40 we come to the Israelites following a dark time. The Persian King Sennacherib had invaded. Here God tells his people that they will have comfort brought to them as; 1) they are 'my people' 2) Sin and rebellion would be paid for through the coming of Jesus 3) they needed to make straight the paths for the one who is coming..

APPLICATION we should take the Bible as the word of God; knowing it can bring us comfort that God wants us to have in what can be a dark world.

We need to acknowledge that if we have come to Christ we are 'his people'

3) we must repent daily of our sine and 'make straight our paths'
